My description of the scumbag this song is about is too kind to him. The weird title was something I made up while jamming with David Furphy in high school.
Most people would think "I ride among Apaches" and conjure a romantic vision of the old west.
I'm actually talking about riding the bus to Mescalero, lol

A broken man a bull fighter
who possessed me
kept me
in a fever of rage
his tiny brain
possessing giant riddles
the time has passed
for festivals and fiddles
i watch him threaten
everyone i love
his power overwhelms
as his cape rides above

I lost my wife in the desert
the desert of new mexico so close to the mountains
I heard the croak of a grisled desperado
he drew his gun on me and my children

A greedy man a folk hero
who got scot free
slipped through
the scorn of the law man
his vampire blood
possessing spanish dancers
the time has passed
I ride among Apaches
i watch him menace
the tribe I came to love
his power waxes
as his cape flies above

i dug a deep cold grave on a bare hill
i'm gonna find him one day this bullfighter
he claims his back is too broken to bear him
but he does alright with his grifting and his pain pills
