Falling from Grace

Back in the great depression it was once so clear
who fought for people or big business then we let down our gaurd
Came the vultures with their worthless money stolen from the workers
sold the world out for a profit and a grift

standing here on hopelessness, where once the fires kindled
what little power voters had co-opted lost and swindled
abused we are and triggered spoon fed on vitriol opinions
the poisoned crave the medicine, but linger as the minions
too deeply in their comfort zone entitled pundits swagger
we had a movement and a leader, now crippled as we stagger
in a free fall in a tailspin falling on our face
and the heroes we looked up to are all falling from grace

the smug and nasty self absorbed psychopathic power seekers
tried to break our spirit and its true that many folded
the game so bent and twisted like the furrows of some hell
the outcome and the sum of all our decaying shell

Now many start to realize the lesson in this story
we’re clawing at the coffin lids buried alive by worry
all stretched beyond our breaking point to serve the greed of vultures
the graveyard of humanity now wells to flood our culture
while deals are made in ivory towers with laws too long to list
the mills that once had fed us turning good folk into grist
falling we are falling our death flashes in our face
and the heroes we looked up to are all falling from grace

anointed “her” strides blatant, dirty hands past the damned
She’s been assured of victory, by those who sought her favor
she’s unaware the rabble angers hell surges from its bounds
in her hubris great rallies are pathetic distant sounds

she ain’t aware that she is falling with her insular supporters
cause there’s no bottom she can sink to the dead are free of borders
her bleak machine that falls with her mistakes the plunge for soaring
her tools, paid off lobbyists, grab what they are due for whoring
Their plummet is unending and they’ll try to take us with them
They’ve fallen from all justice grace and truth and humble wisdom
the wild haired wizard we believed in falls on his face
and the heroes we looked up to are all falling from grace

falling we are falling our death flashes in our face
